Sportsmanship Mission Statement
The schools of the Suburban Middle School Conference consider good sportsmanship to be on of the important rewards of healthy competition. SMSC coaches, students, administrators, teachers, and parents support and demonstrate good sportsmanship. Nothing less is expected of the fans who attend the games and activities. So, cheer your team and recognize good performances by others. Have fun representing your school and the conference. Thank you for demonstrating good sportsmanship the SMSC way.
The coaches will:
- Impart to their students not only a desire to win, but also a respect for the game.
- Teach their students to succeed with humility, and handle adversity with dignity.
- Model integrity in all interactions with students, officials, peers, and spectators.
- Exhibit the same positive behaviors and attitudes that they expect from their students.
- Keep the physical and emotional well being of all students foremost in their minds in all decisions and actions.
The students will:
- Treat competitors, teammates, coaches, officials, and fans with courtesy and respect
- Continually strive to improve and excel, both in the classroom and in the activities
- Represent their team, their school, and their conference in a positive and responsible manner.
- Model and exhibit the principles of good sportsmanship in all contests and practices.
