Kindergarten Screenings occur in the spring after the district registration has occurred. This screening is used to determine if any interventions or supports need to be in place at the beginning of the school year to ensure student success in the transition to Kindergarten. Students are identified based upon information gathered in the registration packet and questionnaire that is completed.
The screening is a play based assessment completed by the special services team which may include Special Education Teacher, General Education Teacher, School Social Worker, School Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech/Language Pathologist, and other team members as relevant. The team will look at academic skills, motor skills, speech or language skills. and social interactions.
If you have any questions about the process or have concerns about your child, please contact Heather Trom, Director of Special Education at 847-462-2415 or email email@example.com.
