As 2025 comes to a close, District 3 stands proud of what has been built together. 2025 was a year marked by thoughtful planning, meaningful progress, and a deep commitment to students, staff, and families. From strengthening safety to expanding opportunities for learning, District 3 has laid a strong foundation for the future.
In 2025, District 3 launched and implemented its Strategic Plan, creating a clear roadmap for student success and continuous improvement. This plan guided decisions across schools and departments, ensuring that every initiative aligned with our shared vision.
“Our Strategic Plan isn’t just a document—it’s a promise to our community that every decision we make is focused on what’s best for students,” said Superintendent Dr. Matt Mayer. “In 2025, we moved from planning to action.”
Safety remained a top priority with the rollout of the SAFEeagle Safety & Security Initiative, reinforcing District 3’s commitment to secure, supportive learning environments. Alongside safety efforts, facility and technology upgrades were completed across the district, modernizing classrooms and improving daily experiences for students and staff alike.
District 3 continued to shine as a strong, connected community. Families, educators, and staff worked together to create environments where students feel welcomed, supported, and inspired to learn.
One of the most exciting milestones of the year was the launch of the District 3 First Flight Preschool Program, giving our youngest learners a strong start on their educational journey.
“First Flight represents our belief that success begins early,” Dr. Mayer shared. “By investing in early childhood education, we’re setting students up for long-term achievement.”
2025 brought many moments worth celebrating. ARS was named an Exemplary School, a testament to the dedication of its students, staff, and leadership. District 3 Athletics continued to grow and excel, fostering teamwork, discipline, and school pride across all levels.
Beyond academics and athletics, District 3 demonstrated the power of compassion. The Holiday Food Drive provided meaningful support to District families, reflecting the district’s commitment to caring for the whole child.
District 3 proudly honored our heroes on Veterans Day, recognizing those who have served and the values of sacrifice and service they represent.
Academic success was also on full display because of focused instruction and collaborative efforts, which led to impressive student achievement. ARS was recognized as an Exemplary School for the state of Illinois. We also witnessed tremendous academic growth at FRG Middle School.
“The growth we’re seeing across District 3 shows what’s possible when great teaching, strong leadership, and student support come together,” Dr. Mayer said. “It’s something the entire community can be proud of.”
With strong momentum behind us, District 3 is looking ahead to an exciting 2026. Planned modernization of HVAC systems across the district will improve comfort, efficiency, and learning conditions. The district will also roll out enhancements to the website and social media presence, making it easier than ever to stay informed and connected.
Even more importantly, District 3 will continue sharing the D3 story, celebrating successes and highlighting the people who make this district exceptional. Through the district’s Professional Learning Community (PLC) initiative, teachers will continue to grow, collaborate, and strengthen instruction, ensuring students receive the very best education possible.
“Our story is one of growth, opportunity, and community,” Dr. Mayer reflected. “As we move into 2026, we’re energized to keep building, keep improving, and keep putting students first.”
District 3’s journey continues, and the best is yet to come.
